EYE SPY

02 | 10 | 2014

It’s all about the eyes. Or at least it is for the AW’14 season. From glitter lids to super full lashes, we’ve picked the top three trends from the AW’14 shows so you can keep your eyes on the prize!

1) Metallics

Metallic eye makeup dominated the catwalk this season, but it can require a little added confidence to pull off. Stick to full coverage if you dare, or if you feel its too much, just work the shadow into the bottom lash line for a subtle take on the trend.

2) Full Brows

The power brow has been on trend ever since Cara’s made their catwalk debut. Some of us, however, are not naturally blessed with beautiful bushy brows (sob) and they can be difficult to fake (sob, sob). If you need to add a little bit of extra brow, stick to powders over pencils, as it gives you a natural feathered look, and use grey-toned browns rather than warmer colours. First, make sure you focus on the arch, as shape is KEY. Working toward the outer portion of the brow and then brush the leftover powder on the inner corners. The bold brow works with a number of looks, but make them the main focus and pair with dewy skin and a nude lip. Brow-tiful.

3) Thick Bottom Lashes

It was a throwback straight to 60’s cool this AW’14 with the return of a thick and full bottom lash-line. Think Twiggy in her heyday! At Rochas individual lashes were applied to tie the model’s a doll like look, while at Topshop Unique and Prada thickened up with clumpy mascara, a difficult look to recreate without looking like an accident!

An easy way to fake super thick bottom lashes is to coat talc in between layers of mascara, this gives it something to grip and creates the illusion of Twiggy-esque lashes without the falsies!
