Friendships change and evolve constantly.
But the only constant should be that friends remain loyal, supportive and have your back.
How To Breakup With A Toxic Friend
Noticing some bad vibes in the Girl Gang?
A pessimistic. problem-prone friend taking up all your time?
Sadly not all ‘friends’ are cut from the same cloth. There’s no shame in cutting ties for the better.
Here’s how…
#1. Call Them Out
Are they constantly criticising you? Feel like they aren’t honest? Harsh?
It’s hard, but if you can you should let them know you’re not too happy with their behaviour.
Try and have a non-confrontational chat about how they can sometimes come across.
It might just be that they are unaware of their ways and this is the wake-up call they need.
Or maybe they just need a dressing down!
#2. Know Your Limits
If you feel a pang of despair at the thought of hanging out with a friend then you need to take control of the situation.
Refuse to spend your time in the company of someone who doesn’t make you feel good and build you up.
Your time is valuable and you don’t need to spend it feeling shitty.
Girl, bye.
#3. Be Mature
If this person if part of your social circle, be careful not to burn bridges.
Everyone else will inevitably try and get involved and you don’t want it to turn into a mud throwing match.
Just let people know when they ask that you’re not as close with that person anymore but there are no hard feelings.
You classy lady.
#4. Social Media Cleanse
Mute them on social media without unfriending them.
That way there’s no drama but you also don’t need to see what they had for breakfast.
Or their sh*t boomerangs.
#5. Close The Book
After all the above, if they still don’t get the message its time to be 100% with them.
Let them know in a calm but forward way that you are not friends anymore. Give examples of situations and how they made you feel.
Be firm about your boundaries and let them know it’s time to move on.
