Girl, staying motivated is hard right!? Well not anymore with these tips on the foolproof ways to stay motivated to get your exercise game on.
Ways To Keep Motivated With Exercise
#1 Change Your Mentality
This is the most important thing when it comes to keeping motivated. Ask yourself, why are you wanting to exercise? If you’re doing it to be like your favourite model or the influencer you’re hooked on then have a think, is this realistic… Working out to be healthy, fit or strong is going to be more sustainable and easier over-exercising to be like someone else. You are your own person doll so you have to be the best version of yourself.
Also, you will find it much more enjoyable seeing yourself become fitter, stronger and more in shape over this negative feeling of not being happy with yourself and chasing a body image that isn’t yours. Think (and train) like an athlete, picture yourself training for an event and that there is going to be a competition so you need to be in the best shape and be fueling yourself with the right nutrition to be able to win win win!
#2 Find And Set Your Goal
You need to know what your goal is and make sure it’s realistic enough to achieve to prevent losing motivation and sacking it all in. you know what they say, slow and steady wins the race so make sure your goal as a whole is around 6 – 12 months long.
Remember this is going to be much easier if it’s a lifestyle change rather than a quick fix that is going to leave you feeling deprived and unhappy inevitably causing you to revert back to old bad habits. It may seem like a long time (believe me I’m the most impatient person ever!) but what really helps is by setting mini goals within big goals. So set yourself a goal either each day or month for example – doing 10,000 minimum steps a day or working out at least 4 times a week which over time helps you to the final goal!
#3 Create A Routine
Routine is something we all need so creating a workout routine into your lifestyle works well with helping you stay on track. I tell myself that working out is just as important as going to work and you wouldn’t just not turn up to work because you can’t be bothered so why shouldn’t it be the same for exercise?
Even if it’s just 30 minutes a day setting this time aside either before you wake up, during lunch break or when you go to bed and sticking to this time over 2 months (remember it takes around 60 days to form a habit and 30 to break one) will truly become second nature.
#4 Get The Right Playlist
The right playlist can take your workout from a straight ‘get me out of this gym’ to a “wow can’t wait until my next session” in no time! Find music that gets you pumped and ready to take on anything! I find rock music helps when it comes to weights and dance music helps with cardio. Following other people’s Spotify playlists is great if you’re stuck on what to listen to next.
#5 Inspiration
Instagram is full of fitness bloggers and a few I follow are @stef_fit, @meggangrubb, and @taylorkayteee who all have amazing bodies and promote the right mentality towards exercise and healthy eating! It’s bursting with workout videos, hints and diet tips for you to save to your collection and look at when you just need that kick up the booty!
Go to gym classes, speak to the trainers and other members, socialize to find out what made them start their fitness journey and you never know you might just find a new training buddy!
#6 Your Gym Gear
There’s nothing better than buying yourself a brand new gym outfit and feeling good! This in itself can motivate you to start exercising as I find if I look good in a new outfit it gets me in the mood to go smash an amazing workout!
