How To Maintain A Post-Lockdown Work/Life Balance

17 | 06 | 2021

Is life feeling a little overwhelming ATM? Don’t worry babe, we hear you.

Let’s face it, creating a well-rounded lifestyle is not as easy as it may seem.

Nowadays there is a huge amount of pressure to “live our best lives” by maintaining a picture-perfect yet totally unrealistic lifestyle – balancing busy social calendars with uni or work, trying to eat healthily and work out, make time for our friends, families and pets, all while looking our best and staying on-trend (phew!).

These expectations are enough to make anyone feel deflated, and the lockdown has only heightened those feeling of stress and uncertainty.

Sound familiar doll? If the answer is yes, then we have the perfect tips to help you switch up your routine for the better…

Don’t Be Afraid To Set Boundaries

Learn to start saying “no” to people, events and opportunities which are getting in the way of prioritising what’s most important to you. Be a little more selfish with your time by choosing to do the activities that make you feel fulfilled and happy.

Avoid burnout at work by remembering to take your full breaks and only working overtime if completely necessary – even if you love your job, your free time is super valuable.

Create A Structured Daily Routine

Whether you’re back in the office or still working from home, you should do your best to maintain a structured daily routine that keeps your mind focused while also having enough breaks. Allocate specific times to complete tasks and use a checklist to tick off your achievements as you go. Each task you successfully complete in time will feel like a mini victory and give you that boost to keep going. It’s also a great idea to switch off your phone during working hours in order to avoid distractions and instead allow you to fly through your to-do list.

Prioritize Yourself And Your Loved Ones

Allow yourself some serious TLC every day, even just for an hour! This means spending time doing something that brings you joy, whether it be binging your current Netflix obsession, taking a long bubble bath (with or without a glass of bubbly) or cooking your fave comfort meal. Never feel guilty about making time for YOU.

Staying connected with our loved ones is also super important in your daily routine, especially after lockdown. Spending time with people who love and support you will not only help to create a more fulfilling lifestyle, but can also help you release any stress from your workday.

Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself

If you slip up and find yourself losing your work/life balance, don’t beat yourself up about it! No one’s schedule is flawlessly planned out 100% of the time and perfection just doesn’t exist. All you can do is try your best and make small, progressive steps each day towards being happier and freer with your time.

Your mental and emotional health should always take top priority, so be realistic, persistent, and kind to yourself during this uncertain time.
