Drowning in piles unnecessary things and feeling like you need a detox from some of the more materialistic clutter in your life? Don’t sweat it, all you’re missing is our tips on how to live a negative and junk free life.
HOW TO RID YOUR LIFE OF The THINGS YOU DON’T NEED
First things first, what is it you want to get rid of? Whether it’s forgotten clothes, negative vibes or that birthday card from 2008 that you’re afraid your grandmother will ask about next time she visits.
#1 Excess Garms
Starting with clothes. Sometimes it can be hard to let go of your clothes, as they can be little memory pieces hanging in your wardrobe. But we think it’s time you let go of your Halloween outfit from 2010. To help you separate the diamonds from the rough we’ve created our own PLT tip: If you have a hard time letting go of your clothes, keep it for one more week and wear it that week. If you wear it and love it, keep it. If you wear it and think “WTF?” then girl, let it go.
#2 Bad vibes
Negative vibes can come from anywhere. Whether they’re coming from someone else, yourself, or an environment. Here are some things you can do to reduce the bad vibes in your life. If you’re feeling down in certain relationships, surround yourself with friends and family who make you feel special. If you aren’t happy with yourself, think about all the little things you love about yourself and try to include whatever makes you happy into your life as much as possible.
Memorabilia can be the hardest to get rid of. From old birthday cards to keyrings, fridge magnets and cinema tickets, chances are you’ve built up quite the collection of memories over the years. Want to know how to get rid of stuff like keepsakes and memorabilia? Go through it and see what you really don’t need anymore and be truthful to yourself. Consider making a scrapbook, or a memory box so you can organise your memorabilia.
#4 General Junk
We are all guilty of having a junk drawer, some of you may even have a junk room. Give yourself one day a month to go through your drawer/room and you may realise that most of the stuff in it is (surprise) junk. Once you get into the routine of clearing it out each month, your dirty little secret will be a thing of the past.
