HANGING WITH TYSM

Tell us about yourself. Don’t be afraid to get deep.

I’m a pretty private person although I wasn’t always like that. I’ve grown to cherish my private life. I go through seasons where I will share more than usual but for the most part, I don’t really share too much about myself other than through my music. I’ve gone through a lot in my life and someday I would love to be more open about those topics.

Sometimes I feel like I’ve lived many different lives in this lifetime. I’ve grown a lot in the past couple of years. My faith in God has gotten me through many tough times and changed the way I love others and myself. That’s something I do share a lot- my faith. Not in an I’m gonna push my beliefs on you sort of way but a, if it helps one person then I’m happy I shared it. I guess that kinda answers that?

Describe your sound.

Simple answer: POP.

In-depth answer: Constantly morphing. I write a lot of songs. I live in many different worlds musically and I don’t like to stay too long. I find that visiting different genres and challenging myself only helps me grow.

What kind of people do you make music for?

EVERYONE.

How did you get into music? Is it something you’d always known you wanted to be part of your life?

I have always sung. Musical theatre was my start, and my projected end game was broadway but life happens. God stepped in and took me in a new direction. When I first started writing I had just gotten out of a toxic relationship and was trying to figure out who I was again. Music was the only constant, my only channel at the time. So I wrote a bunch of sad songs and eventually I got better and better and started writing some happy ones.

When I met Felix Snow everything changed though. He changed my life. He was the first person to get me in front of the mic in a booth, he really developed me. I remember our first session. We wrote this beautiful song Moon. We laid everything down and I came back the next day and when I heard it back for the first time I remember thinking this is what I have to do, this is what I want for the rest of my life.

Who/what are you musically obsessed with – what artists do you identify with/inspire you?

Stevie Nicks/ Fleetwood Mac is probably my number one. Their writing is incomparable. I go through seasons with artists and albums. I’m a die hard Rihanna fan. She got me through some TIMES. Musically I’m always obsessed with Felix. He is definitely my muse. I’ve never worked or met anyone quite like him and I admire him so much, I feel so fortunate to be working with him.

Have you experienced any difficulties as a female in your industry?

I have been fortunate enough to have been surrounded by very respectful people. I have not personally experienced any difficulties as a female if anything I feel like I have been empowered and grown because of the people in my life.

What’s your fave outfit to wear when you’re performing?

I am all about jackets! I always go for the funkiest / eye-catching piece I can find. I love accessories, they make an outfit for me. I love starting with a plain pallet and then dressing it up from there.

If you weren’t a singer what would you be doing?

Man, I have been SO into true crime it has gotten me thinking that I would love to be a detective. We have been on the road a lot and we listen to a lot of true crime podcasts. It’s fascinating!

What’s your fave life highlight to date.

The last song I recorded. Constantly creating is the highlight. I don’t think any social event or opportunity tops the feeling of creating and then listening to what you created.

One song on your playlist you never get bored of?

Rhiannon – Fleetwood Mac

What are you looking forward to for the rest of 2018 in terms of big plans and cool stuff you’re doing?

Felix Snow and I have some major news we are going to announce soon!! We have been working really hard on something brand new and we can’t wait to reveal it all.

Let’s talk dream collaborations. Who would it be with, what would you create?

There are so many!!! My no.1 would be Fleetwood Mac.

Tell us 3 things you stand for.

God/my faith

Self-love & care

Loving/ showing kindness to others the way you want to be loved/ be shown kindness.
