Wondering how we’re celebrating International Women’s Day 2023 at PrettyLittleThing?

#PrettyPowerful

In honour of International Women’s Day, we’re saluting the powerful unicorns behind the scenes at PrettyLittleThing that make the magic happen. As a brand driven by family values at the core of our identity, we aim to empower the women who work within our company’s walls as well as empowering you, the customer, through what you wear and how you feel. So, shout out to our hardworking employees and the parts they play in every area of the business, who put the “force” into workforce. Together we are #PrettyPowerful.

Let’s meet some of the women involved in the shoot!

Brogan

What does a typical day look like for you?

I have a large team of advisors that I have to manage daily. I conduct 121’s/Appraisals, present coaching sessions, motivate daily, manage performance/behaviour, create performance plans etc as well as the admin side of things. I also deal with personal issues the advisors may have as well, a lot open up to me which is great as it helps me understand how they are feeling and also helps them feel valued.

What are your future hopes or goals?

My goal is to gain my certificate in the apprenticeship I am doing through work ‘Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Certificate in Principles of Management and Leadership’.

This will help me be the best Team Leader I can be.

Emilia

Tell us about yourself.

After graduating in 2019 I focused on building my career in Marketing and last year I took a leap of faith and decided to get out of my comfort zone and leave everything behind and move to new city to start my dream job.

Who is a woman who is #PrettyPowerful to you?

To me all woman are pretty powerful. I look up to all woman who make a difference every day and who are strong minded and believe in their vision and themselves.

I’d like to say thank you to all woman who inspire me every day and who paved the way so my voice could be heard.

Louise

Who is a woman who is #PrettyPowerful to you?

My mum. She is my absolute best friend and I really could tell her anything. She works for the NHS and set up one of the covid labs at University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire in lockdown so I’m super proud of her for that.

If anyone wanted to follow in your footsteps, what advice would you give them?

Take the plunge! I’d be in my retail job comfortably for so many years and in a completely different city that I was super nervous to move for the job, but I’m super glad I did!

Jasmin

Tell us about yourself.

I’m Jasmin and I’m the Community Coordinator for the Social team at PrettyLittleThing.

I actually started in Customer Service and worked my way up into the Marketing team. There’s never a dull day on Social.

Lauren

If anyone wanted to follow in your footsteps, what advice would you give them?

I would say make sure you create a strong portfolio. Quality over quantity and always be true to yourself no matter what anyone says.

If you have the passion you will get far!

Who is a woman who is #PrettyPowerful to you/inspires you and why?

My mum, Lynda McKay. She is an unbelievable woman. Strong, thoughtful, ALWAYS smiling and lighting up every room she walks in.

Every day I think “what would my mum do”, as she always guides me in the right direction to help me get the best out of life. To me, she is truly pretty powerful.

Amy

Tell us about yourself.

I’m Amy and I’m on the Business Analyst Graduate programme at PLT. I have recently finished my first rotation on PLT Marketplace – in this role, I act as a liaison between the business and the technical team, supporting the delivery of new features to the Marketplace App. Prior to this I studied Business at Nottingham Trent University.

What does a typical day look like for you?

On a typical day, I meet with the technical team in the morning to catch up on their tasks. Then I’ll work on any required analysis or documentation to aid the team’s progress. All the while, regularly communicating with stakeholders to keep them updated on the project’s status and key deliverables.

Tia

What are your future hopes or goals for the brand?

I’d love to see us venturing into having more pop-up shops in towns and cities. That would be cool.

Who is a woman who is #PrettyPowerful to you?

My mum. She taught me that hard times can be overcome, how to be independent, how to set goals and achieve them.

Alicia

What does a typical day look like for you?

For me a typical day includes forecasting, analysis, reviewing sales and making quick decisions to react to changes in the industry.

We’re constantly looking for where we can better ourselves in line with our competitors.

What are your future goals?

I’d love to be an integral part of driving change as we continue to grow the business.

Farah

What are you most proud of?

I’m French-Algerian and moved to England 6 months ago from Brussels.

Being pretty new within the company I’m proud I managed to adapt and integrate myself quite quickly to a new life in a new country with a new language!

Ellie

What does a typical day look like for you?

My days are very different day to day but I generally start my day by checking in on the models who are in our studios for the day making sure they’re ok! I then catch up on emails.

I work across LA and the UK studios so sometimes I get a lot of emails overnight from the USA model agents. I work on all our campaigns, eccom and shows booking models for everything we do.

I also do a lot of castings throughout the day meeting new models and booking travel and accommodation for models and the shoots that we have coming up.

What are your future hopes or goals?

To continue to empower women within my role that I do here at PLT, making girls dreams come true every day!

Andreea

What are your future hopes or goals?

I would love to further develop the mentoring side of my role more in order to help others and the people I work with to become the best version of themselves.

Who is a woman who is #PrettyPowerful to you?

In my place of work, I am surrounded by many pretty powerful women every day, however, someone who has been an inspiration to me since day one is our Site Operations Manager Joanne Tomlinson. When I initially joined the company, I didn’t had a clear direction of my own management style, Joanne acted as my role model, inspiring me to be the person I wanted to be.

Summer

Tell us about yourself.

I’m a production manager for one of PrettyLittleThing’s key suppliers – we’ve been working with the brand for over 9 years now so are pretty much part of the family!

What does a typical day look like for you?

The first thing I do on a working day is catch up with my factories in China to make sure all my bulk productions are on track and sorting out any issues along the supply chain there.

I usually visit the PrettyLittleThing office in the afternoons too to catch up with buying and design teams.

Holly

What does a typical day look like for you?

I start my day with emails, following up with our suppliers on samples, colour swatches and prints to make sure we’re up to date and on trend.

I spend around an hour and a half each day in fits – during this time we make amends on how the garment fits our models and confirm colours and prints for our newness.

If anyone wanted to follow in your footsteps, what advice would you give them?

I would say to always believe in yourself. The only person that can give you success is yourself. Always be positive and stay motivated even on the hard days.

Feeling the female empowerment?

Here’s 5 ways how to celebrate International’s Women’s Day 2023!

#1. Celebrate the women in your life.

From family and friends to colleagues at work – literally any women in your life that inspire you, let them know.

#2. Do something that makes you feel empowered.

It could be stepping out of your comfort zone and attending a new gym class or working towards something long term by making a vision board.

Whatever feels empowering to you, today is the day to do it.

#3. Girls supporting girls.

Maybe there’s a female run small business that you’re loving ATM, why not shout them out on social?

Perhaps your fave celeb is a major icon and you want to shout it out loud for all to hear?

It could be a text to your friends letting them know you’re proud of them.

Show up for the girls and support however you can!

#4. Donate to a charity.

If able to, why not make a donation to a charity supporting International Women’s Day.

#5. Take time for yourself.

Take a moment to do something for yourself today.

It could be that you take an hour to truly de-stress before bed and practice self-care affirmations.

Why not give yourself 10 minutes to journal and write down things you’re proud of or have accomplished recently.

Maybe it’s something as simple as treating yourself to your fave coffee on your break at work or indulging in a evening of self-care.

You deserve it all!
